Jennifer McClellan Counseling in North Atlanta

Counselor & Therapist in North Atlanta

I believe in the power of compassionate, client-centered therapy to help individuals navigate life’s challenges and discover their true potential. My mission is to provide a safe, supportive space where clients can heal, grow, and build the resilience they need to thrive.

I have always known I wanted to help others, but I could not have predicted how life’s challenges would shape that calling.

Sometimes, life’s most painful moments lead us to unexpected places of growth and purpose.

Overcoming challenges like addiction and abuse often unveils the profound power of resilience and healing.

I have personally faced the stark realities of navigating the aftermath of similar struggles. Through therapy, I worked to address anxiety and past negative experiences, embarking on a journey that was both challenging and transformative.

Years later, I found myself in another battle when my father received a devastating cancer diagnosis. This experience underscored the critical need for mental health support during times of illness. While spending time at the Veteran’s hospital and its sister facilities, I witnessed countless individuals enduring emotional, mental, and physical hardships, often with little to no access to mental health resources.

These experiences, combined with my personal trials, became a pivotal moment in my life.

I felt a deep calling to shift my career path—a nudge of grace I could not ignore.

Within a year, I left law school behind and enrolled in a Clinical Mental Health Master’s program.

My training led me to work with a community behavioral health organization, serving individuals and families facing economic hardship. That experience taught me the resilience of the human spirit and the critical need for accessible mental health care. In 2020, I joined a faith-based private practice where I could blend my professional skills with a deep sense of compassion and faith, offering hope to those in need.

Today, as I reflect on my journey, I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve my community. The struggles I have faced—addiction, loss, and life’s unexpected detours—have given me unique insight and empathy. It’s an honor to walk alongside others as they navigate their own challenges, offering the same support and healing that once helped me reclaim my life.

Counseling is my second career.

Before becoming a therapist, my career consisted of human resources and operations management for nearly 27 years. I also served in a Regional Leadership role for a Georgia based Community Service Organization working with clientele from the Department of Family and Children Services, school systems, and rural communities providing mental health care.

I love volunteering with children and adults with various needs, and working with Special Olympics in Cherokee County. I also teach yoga to all populations using somatic healing and incorporating mindfulness in my classes. My husband and I spend our leisure time enjoying the outdoors, traveling, and fostering dogs.

Life’s twists and turns have a way of shaping us, often in ways we never expect.

For me, those experiences have become the foundation of a career rooted in helping others find hope, healing, and the strength to move forward.
